Most of what I write and the things I create have been inspired by the phrase 'in the end we all become stories' Pieces of You was written in a time of grief, and what I wanted to capture was how beautiful it is that pieces of us exist in every person we've ever met.

The Poem

Its pretty sad isn’t it

That it takes so long to see

That we wait until it’s over

To set all our memories free

It’s pretty sad isn’t it

That it’s only when it’s gone

That we try holding that moment

wishing we could turn them back on

It’s pretty sad isn’t it

That some I love you’s are too late

That we assume people know

So their whole lives we wait

It’s pretty sad isn’t it

That our goal is for more

To make an impact, find purpose

Always get the highest score

It’s pretty sad isn’t it

That you will never know

That everyone you touched

Every passing hello

Left a piece of you behind

And a you coloured glow

It wasn’t something you earned

Or something you needed to show

It’s pretty beautiful isn’t it

That even when you’re gone

You will exist forever in stories

Some short, others long

It’s pretty beautiful isn’t it

That really, there was nothing you had to do

That your mark was left everywhere
